Chemical Engineering Colleges in India
Chemical Engineering is a core and traditional branch of engineering. They are experts in the field of reactions, and experiments. Everything around us is a result of permutation and combination, and made up of chemical components. Chemical engineering colleges in India imbibe this quality in young minds of exploring the chemical basis of life that are in fact the foundation of living.
To get admission, a student should opt for science in plus two with the physics, chemistry, mathematics (PCM) combination. A strong and quality knowledge, and of course interest and passion, for chemistry, is always the first step to be a successful engineering professional.
Though today all core engineers are chasing the software dream, the scope of core chemical engineering is immense. They are in great demand in industries such as petroleum, oil and gas, chemical products, drugs and medicines, aerated drinks, etc. These industries deal specifically with the knowledge and applicability of formulas and techniques that are taught in the four years of study. And there is no dearth, in fact overflowing, of such companies. So there is a need to prevent such students from escaping their branch and being a part of the IT rat race.
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)
Admission to B. Tech.in the seven branches of IIT, is on the basis of the Joint Entrance Examination (IIT JEE) conducted by IIT. And for M. Tech., admission is based on the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Eligibility for undergrad is PCM combination of science, and for master’s, Bachelor’s in engineering.
National Institute of Technology (NIT)
NIT at the B. Tech level, bases its admission on the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE). For master’s, a B. Tech in engineering is essential (to apply for GATE). You need a science background with PCM in class XII.
Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences (BITS), Pilani
It has campus in Pilani, Goa, Hyderabad and Dubai. Admission to bachelor’s program is on the basis of entrance examination conducted by the institute. Post graduation admission is dependent on an online entrance test, followed by an interview, and only those can apply who have a bachelors degree in the specific branch.
