Ambedkar University Delhi

Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University, or in short Ambedkar University, Delhi (AUD) was established by the Government of the NCT of Delhi through an Act of the Delhi Legislature. The University began functioning in August 2008. It is a Unitary non-affiliating University whose main focus is on undergraduate and postgraduate studies and on research in the Humanities and the Social Sciences. It is completely funded by the State Government of the NCT of Delhi.

AUD presently operates from two campuses in Delhi, one located in the Integrated Institute of Technology, Dwarka and accessible by the blue line of Delhi Metro, and the other one located in Kashmere Gate and accessible by the red and the yellow line of Delhi Metro.

Future campus

The University is developing its new campus in Dheerpur in North Delhi. The 110-acre (0.45 km2) campus will include a 60-acre (240,000 m2) biodiversity park to conserve the wetlands. Until being developed, the university is holding the classes from its Dwarka campus, and the erstwhile Indraprastha University campus housed in Kashmere Gate and Indraprashta University is shifting to Dwarka Sector-14 now. The future campus is planned to be energy-efficient, ecologically-frugal and disabled-friendly. It will include academic, residential, recreational and social facilities for students and staff.
