Education Governing Councils in India
In India, there are two main central government council for education – CISCE (The Council of Indian School Certificate Examination) and CBSE (The Central Board of Secondary Education). Both these governing bodies conduct two public examinations after class 10 and 12. Apart from these two governing bodies each state in India has its own board or council of education. These boards conduct class 10, class 12 board examinations, and look after the educational issues.
Government of India has also established a National Institute of Open Schooling in the year 1989. This education is mainly for those students who cannot attend regular/formal schools. There are also some international schools, which are accredited to the curriculum of international standards.
