The faculty of Law, AMU, Aligarh has been ranked amongst the top 25 faculties of law in India. About 15 Ph.D.’s in law have been awarded during 1991-2000. The faculty is successfully running its 5 year B.A. LL.B. (Hons) integrated course and two years LLM. course since their inception.

Programs & Eligibility

Courses for which selection is made on the basis of entrance test: -

Program: B.A. LL.B.

Eligibility: The Aligarh Muslim University’s Faculty of Law offers 5 year B.A. LL.B. (Hons) integrated course. The eligibility criteria for admission to this program is that candidate must have completed class 12th under the 10+2 system.

Program: LLM

Eligibility: LL.B. from any recognized university

Non test PG Diploma Courses: -

Program: P.G. Diploma in Company Law, Banking & Insurance

Duration: 1 Year

Minimum Qualification: B.A./B.Sc. /B. Com. examination of this University or an examination recognized as its equivalent with not less than 45% marks in the aggregate.

Program: P.G. Diploma in Labour Law & Labour Relations

Duration: 1 Year

Course Pattern

The Faculty of Law, AMU, follows a semester system under which the academic year is divided into two parts and six subjects are taught in each semester for B.A.LL.B. program.

Similarly, the LL.M. (General) programme comprises study of the six compulsory courses and four courses in the area of optional subjects and a dissertation prepared during fourth semester. The system is devised in such a way as to offer number of specializations.
Area of Specialization: Commercial Law, Personal Law, International Law, Human Rights Law, Labour law, Constitutional Law.
